SmartCorners General Assembly 2026 held in Ingolstadt, Germany

On 30 June – 1 July 2026, the SmartCorners consortium convened in Ingolstadt, Germany, for its latest General Assembly meeting, generously hosted by AVL Deutschland.

The two-day meeting brought together project partners to review the progress achieved across the different work packages, discuss ongoing technical developments, and coordinate upcoming activities. The General Assembly provided an important forum for exchanging knowledge, assessing project results, and ensuring alignment on the objectives and priorities for the months ahead.

Particular attention was given to the next steps required to achieve the project’s final goals, as SmartCorners has now entered its concluding phase. With the project scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026, partners discussed the remaining milestones, planned demonstrations, and key actions necessary to maximise the project’s impact and ensure a successful completion.

The meeting once again highlighted the strong collaboration and commitment of all consortium members, whose combined expertise continues to drive the project forward.

The SmartCorners consortium extends its sincere appreciation to AVL Deutschland for the excellent organisation and warm hospitality, and thanks all project partners for their valuable contributions and continued dedication throughout this final stage of the project.

SmartCorners at SAMCON 2026

We are pleased to share that SmartCorners was presented at the SAMCON Conference, held from 6 to 8 March 2026 in Daegu, Republic of Korea. The conference is a leading international platform dedicated to advancements in sensing, control, and optimization technologies.

A highlight of the event was the keynote presentation delivered by our project partner Prof. Valentin Ivanov from the Smart Vehicles Group at TU Ilmenau. In his talk, he demonstrated how the SmartCorners project is redefining energy management and power electronics architectures to support future-ready, smart, and sustainable energy systems.

Participation in SAMCON 2026 provided an excellent opportunity to present the project’s vision to an international audience and to engage with leading experts from both academia and industry. The event enabled valuable exchanges and opened the door to new collaborations that will support ongoing innovation in the field.

RTR Summary Report now available

The RTR summary report is now available, presenting key developments and recent progress of the project.

SmartCorners was showcased in the joint discussion on “User-Centric Energy Optimised Electric Vehicles”, focusing on approaches to balance energy efficiency with user needs in next-generation EVs. The exchange addressed challenges related to software integration, thermal management complexity, and the role of user data in optimising vehicle performance.

A central theme was finding the right balance between comfort and energy efficiency, highlighting the importance of user-oriented design in achieving wider adoption of electric mobility.
The discussion also reinforced the relevance of these projects in supporting Europe’s transition towards zero-emission transport.

SmartCorners General Assembly in Erfurt, Germany

The SmartCorners consortium convened for its General Assembly on 20–21 January 2026, hosted by TU Ilmenau in Erfurt, Germany. The meeting brought together project partners to review progress achieved to date, assess the status of ongoing activities, and coordinate efforts for the upcoming project phase.

The two-day assembly provided a structured forum for in-depth technical discussions, alignment on forthcoming milestones, and strategic planning across work packages. Particular emphasis was placed on ensuring coherence between research activities, development efforts, and implementation objectives.

A notable component of the meeting was the participation of the SmartCorners demonstrator, which contributed practical insights into system integration, validation approaches, and real-world deployment considerations. This exchange supported the alignment of technical developments with demonstrator requirements and overall project goals.

The General Assembly reinforced collaboration among consortium partners and established a clear roadmap for the next steps of the SmartCorners project. Further technical updates and insights will be shared in upcoming communications.

2Zero State Representative Group visits Politecnico di Torino

Politecnico di Torino was pleased to welcome the 2Zero State Representative Group for a visit dedicated to ongoing Horizon Europe activities supporting the transition to zero-emission mobility. The meeting offered an opportunity to showcase Politecnico di Torino’s active role as a partner in three Horizon Europe projects EM-TECH, HighScape, and SmartCorners, and their contribution to the objectives of the 2Zero Partnership.
The visit fostered an open exchange on project progress, innovative technological and urban solutions, and the strong synergies emerging across the three initiatives. It also highlighted the importance of connecting European policy ambitions with concrete research and innovation actions, strengthening collaboration between institutional stakeholders and project partners working towards a more sustainable, zero-emission transport future.
