SmartCorners at SAE WCX 2026

SmartCorners was pleased to present its latest project results at SAE WCX 2026, during the special session “Electric Vehicle Drivetrain and Chassis Dynamics and Control Application”, organized by @Valentin Ivanov from the @SmartVehiclesWorkingGroup @TUIlmenau. The paper created by the consortium was presented by @Eric Armengaud from @Armengaud Innovate GmbH.

The session brought together nine technical presentations from Europe, Asia, and North America, with contributors representing OEMs, Tier‑1 and Tier‑2 suppliers, and academia. It provided a valuable international forum for exchanging ideas and perspectives on the future development of electric vehicle powertrain and chassis systems.

The discussions highlighted several important trends shaping the evolution of electric and electrified vehicles:

  • Vehicle range, energy efficiency, and affordability remain top priorities for the successful adoption of electric mobility.
  • Innovation in electric vehicles extends beyond the e‑drive itself. Chassis components and their interaction with the electric drivetrain, enabled by advanced control strategies, represent a major innovation pathway.
  • Corner-based vehicle approaches generated lively discussions, underlining their strong potential to enable innovative and cost‑effective vehicle functionalities. At the same time, they imply significant changes in vehicle architecture to fully realize this potential.

The insightful exchanges during the session confirmed both the strong promise of smart e‑corner solutions and the necessity of architectural evolution to unlock their full benefits. These discussions reinforce the relevance of the SmartCorners approach in addressing future mobility challenges through integrated, user‑centred vehicle design.

2Zero State Representative Group visits Politecnico di Torino

Politecnico di Torino was pleased to welcome the 2Zero State Representative Group for a visit dedicated to ongoing Horizon Europe activities supporting the transition to zero-emission mobility. The meeting offered an opportunity to showcase Politecnico di Torino’s active role as a partner in three Horizon Europe projects EM-TECH, HighScape, and SmartCorners, and their contribution to the objectives of the 2Zero Partnership.
The visit fostered an open exchange on project progress, innovative technological and urban solutions, and the strong synergies emerging across the three initiatives. It also highlighted the importance of connecting European policy ambitions with concrete research and innovation actions, strengthening collaboration between institutional stakeholders and project partners working towards a more sustainable, zero-emission transport future.
